Menu Box Systems
Illuminated menu boxes, built as a run across the wall above your counter.
Menu Box Systems detailsA good menu system does two jobs at once: it tells people what you sell, and it makes them want it. We make the full range — illuminated menu boxes, butcher bar hanging menus and curved lit panels — from a single board to a full counter run.
Designed with you, printed and fabricated in our Nottingham workshop, and fitted by our own installers. When prices change you replace a panel, not the system.

They do the same job in very different ways. Which one suits you comes down to your wall, how often the menu changes, and how the room is lit.

Menu Box Systems details
Menu panels hung from a steel rail on hooks, so any board lifts off in seconds.
Butcher Bar Menus details
Convex illuminated panels that bow out from the wall and read across the room.
Curved Menu Systems detailsA lit panel is the right answer for a menu that stays put. It is bright, it costs almost nothing to run and it never crashes. But every menu has a part that moves — the special, the price that went up, the thing that sold out at two o'clock — and reprinting a panel for that costs you every single time.
So most counters end up running both. Screens, video walls and window displays you can change from your phone. We build the first set of content ourselves, so it goes live looking like your brand rather than like a spreadsheet.
Our own digital menu platform, written in-house and developed over 15 years.
Lit panels for the menu that stays put, a screen for the part that moves. Specified as one scheme so the finishes match rather than nearly match.
A printed panel costs you money every time it changes. A screen costs you a couple of minutes, from the back office or a beach.
The board changes itself at eleven. You stop paying for a menu that is wrong for half the day, and you stop relying on somebody remembering.
Thousands of templates and food images come with the platform, and our designers keep adding to them. A new special takes minutes instead of a quote.
One team, one point of contact, one price — no sub-contracted middle men between your menu and the board above your counter.
We measure the wall, check the heights, the sight lines from the door and the power.
Our designers set out the menu — grouping, hierarchy and food photography — and show you it in place.
Panels printed and frames fabricated in our Nottingham workshop, LED built in.
Fitted, lit and tested by our own installers, with the old boards taken away.
Every one designed, printed and installed by BD Signs. Tap any image to see that system in detail.
Yes — that is the point of a system rather than a single sign. The panels are printed separately from the frame, so when a price moves or a dish comes off you replace the panel and the frame, the lighting and the fixings all stay where they are. On a butcher bar it is even simpler: the board lifts off its hooks.
Menu boxes are the workhorse — a lit run above the counter, easy to read from the door. A butcher bar suits places whose offer changes often, or where a lit box would look too corporate for the interior. Curved systems angle the face towards the room, which helps in a wide space or where people order from a queue rather than at the counter.
Menu box and curved systems are LED lit as standard — the panels are printed on translucent media and lit from behind, so they stay readable in a bright shop and after dark. Butcher bar panels are normally unlit and rely on the room lighting, which is part of why they suit a more hand-made interior.
Either. Most people send us a list of dishes and prices and our designers set the whole thing out — grouping, hierarchy, food photography and where the eye lands. If you already have artwork we will work to it. Either way you see a visual before anything is printed, and we keep revising until you are happy.
Yes. We are based in Nottingham and manufacture everything in our own workshop, but we install UK-wide — single sites and multi-site rollouts alike.
Send us your menu and a photo of the wall above the counter. We will lay it out and quote the run as one job.
“We recently used BD Signs for digital signage in our fish and chip takeaway and couldn't be happier with the result. From the first conversation, when they squeezed us in when we drove down without an appointment, through to installation.”
“A big thank you to the team at BD Signs for all your hard work with our new Digital Menu System. We have 6 screens in total, and a bespoke display box with our branding.
